Deciding if Laptop Repair is the Best Option
A laptop repair shop may be able to give you a good assessment of the condition of your machine. Make sure that they give you an estimate for the labour to fix the machine as well as the cost of the computer parts. Let the repair shop know that you are interested in finding the lowest cost to repair your machine. There may be some interchangeable parts that can give you a lower price for the cost of the repair.
Another important aspect to consider is the age of your machine. Technology advances rapidly and it is not always practical or even wise to repair an older laptop. Some programs are not even compatible with modern technology. This would make your laptop obsolete. Also, consider your uses. If you only use the laptop on rare occasions, having an older machine may not be such a bad idea. If you know that you will not use the new laptop often, consider repairing your old machine.
The repair shop may not be able to handle the repairs that your laptop needs. This will mean that you will have to send the laptop to the manufacturer. A repair that must go to the manufacturer might be more expensive than the computer is worth.
There comes a time when it is necessary to let a laptop go and invest in a new machine. This decision is one that is a matter of personal taste. Consider the cost of new machines on the market and compare it against the cost of repairs and computer parts to bring your old machine back to life. It might turn out that a brand new machine will only cost a little bit more.
Sometimes, you might have enough computer skills to do a simple repair on your own. You can use the Internet to find computer part retailers with low prices. This would save an enormous amount of money, making the repair a better option. Obviously, paying for labour adds to the cost of computer repair. If you are capable of doing it on your own with affordable parts, this would definitely be the best option.
The decision to repair or buy new is one that requires research, assessment, and consideration. Buying a new laptop may sound exciting, but a simple, inexpensive repair may be all that you need.
Getting Your Dirt biking Stuff
It is important to create a checklist of all necessary motocross equipment. To be completely safe, you will need motocross clothing, a good pair of boots, special padding, and goggles. All of these elements will protect you from injury and keep you incredibly safe.
Because of the immense popularity of motocross, there are numerous brands and companies producing motocross gear. It is important to do a good bit of research before purchasing anything. Companies like Oakley and Alpinestar are well known motocross retailers. Regardless of the brand, a helmet is the most crucial piece of motocross equipment that you will need. It also must meet safety regulations.
Other important safety elements are your goggles. Because motocross can produce dust, rocks, and other flying debris, you must protect your eyes with a good pair of goggles. You could even consider buying two pairs of goggles. Some goggles are tinted, which would help with the bright sun, while others are clear and can be worn at night. Oakley is one company that provides a wide selection of goggles for every motocross need.
Another important piece of gear is a quality pair of boots. While you enjoy your exciting ride, be assured that your feet are protected from injury.
One of the easiest ways to do all your research for motocross gear is online. You can compare prices and different brands to find the right equipment for your sport. Be sure to make a list of the various companies and brands on the market to start your comparison shopping.
Although it is extremely important to many people, low prices and deals should not be your only criteria when purchasing motocross equipment. Your health and safety should be your primary concern. Be sure that all of the brands and products that you select meet all safety requirements and regulations.
It is important to remember that the cheapest price is not always necessarily the best deal. The safety standards should be your ultimate criteria when selecting motocross equipment. Along with safety, comfort and warmth should also play a role. A specialized motocross jacket will provide you with safety, as well as warmth.
Motocross is a dangerous, but fulfilling sport. Having the appropriate gear and equipment will make a tremendous difference while you are enjoying your motocross ride. Choose the best gear to fit your budget and you will stay safe. Enjoy your favourite sport with the confidence that you will be safe and secure.
Protecting Your Car with a Car Cover
When buying a car cover it is important to do your prior research into the different types available - and there are many. Although there are two obvious main categories: indoor and outdoor, there are number of subcategories: waterproof; 'breathable' water resistant and fabric, often cotton, acrylic or polyester, which is non-water resistant. Choosing the right type for your car means analysing what you expect the cover to do.
If you keep your car in a garage, you probably want to protect it from dust, objects falling or brushing against it, and possibly household pets. In this case a thick, soft cover, preferably lined with fleece to make it more 'breathable' (thus preventing trapped moisture), should give your car all the protection it needs indoors. The outer cover can be cotton or cotton mix material, or flannel for softness and warmth.
The choice of indoor covers is much easier than outdoor ones, where the range is usually much greater. In the great outdoors our cars may need protection from any number of hazards, natural or man-made. These can range from extreme weather conditions to the vagaries of nature: bird droppings, falling tree sap and tiny creatures with sharp claws or dirty paws. For seaside dwellers, there is also the risk of salt in the air and in windy weather anywhere the problem of damage from airborne objects. With a well-secured car cover, you are also protecting your car from car thieves, who usually prefer to be able to make a quick getaway.
Outdoor covers need to be waterproof or water resistant, but at the same time must allow the circulation of air around the car to prevent condensation which can damage the paintwork over a long period of time. A waterproof cover alone therefore is not enough. This may protect from a number of damaging effects but for full paintwork protection, a soft, 'breathable' inner lining is essential.
The fit therefore is important. It is far better to pay a little extra for a tailor-made cover for your car. This will ensure a tighter fit and minimise the risk of lifting and flapping around in the wind which could scratch the paintwork.
We all aspire to maintain that showroom sheen and the benefits of this are more than skin deep. Tiny particles of trapped dust and grit can scratch the paintwork if the cover is battered by high winds, or when pulling it on and off. For this reason, it's important to learn the best way to fit and remove the cover smoothly - not merely to protect the paintwork, but also to save valuable time.
Look for a cover that is washable as this will preserve its life and its protective qualities, as well as being gentler on your car. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for storage, cleaning and maintenance and if your car could thank you, it certainly would!

A Few Things to Consider When Buying Your Next Bed
If you are thinking about choosing metal beds then you are spoilt for choice. Personally I find that the metal bed just has a reassuring sturdy feel and I like the fact that they are so easy to keep clean. Nowadays metal beds come in all shapes and sizes and they can have a modern or more old fashioned feel to them depending on what you are after.
Metal beds are another type of bed that offers their own unique appeal. The thing I like about this type of bed is they look so sturdy and they can also have a very modern feel to them. Of course I am talking generalisations here and there is a wide variety of different metal beds to cover all tastes. The great thing about metal beds generally is that they are so easy to keep clean.
There is something just so attractive about wooden beds. They have a real homely feel to them and they tend to look really classy. The other great thing about wood is that it offers a warm and natural look that goes well with all types of other furniture. Wooden beds offer a wide variety of options and some are quite classical looking while others have a more modern feel to them.
Divan beds also provide their own unique charm in that they are multi-functional. Many people these days use their spare room as an office and having a divan bed like this means that you can have it as a couch and still be able to use your office as a guest room in an emergency. It is this versatility that makes the Divan bed an attractive option.
These four types of bed are only the tip of the ice-berg and there really is so much to choose from. The more you look the more you will find and manufacturers have probably been more innovative here than any other type of furniture - this makes sense considering the beds importance. Usually though you will come across a bed that you like without having to search too hard.
My advice for anyone who finds choosing beds difficult is to not fear all the choice. Having so many great beds to choose from is actually a good thing because it increases our chance of finding the one we want. My advice is to look until you find that bed that really stands out - you will know it when you see it.
There really are some great options when it comes to choosing beds. Out there exists the bed that was made for us and all we have to do is find it.
Four Tips On How To Buy A Pair Of Sunglasses
Ultraviolet Light:
Ultraviolet radiation from the sun is a hazard that’s grossly underestimated, by outdoors-men and women in general and by golfers in particular – I think it has something to do with making that all-important putt.
UV rays are particularly hazardous to our eyesight. They cause cataracts, macular degeneration and host of other ailments including one I’ve suffered from for more years than I can count: skin cancer. Fortunately, 99% of UV rays never reach the earth. The other 1% that does is of real concern.
The stat’s say that golfers are 50% more likely to contract a UV-related eye ailment than the rest of the population. I, therefore, consider a really good pair of sunglasses essential to my golfing good health. A good pair should block at least 98% of UV light. If not, don’t buy them.
Polarization:
Contrary to what you might think, light doesn’t travel in straight line: it bounces back and forth from one reflective surface to another. This causes glare, especially from glass, water, shiny green grass and even white sand – sand traps and beach.
Polarized lenses permit only vertical light rays to pass through them, not horizontal, and thus they reduce glare.
Now, some people say, and I must admit I’m one of them, that polarized sunglasses do NOT help when reading the green. It’s an arguable point and I’m not an expert in such matters, but… I just don’t feel comfortable wearing polarized glasses on the green. And, as my game is not all it should be anyway….
The Colors Of Glass:
I’m talking lenses here. First, you should know that the color of the lens has nothing to do with polarization. It can, however, have an effect on depth perception, clarity, and even glare.
You’ll have noticed that most sunglasses have greylenses. That’s not an accident. Grey is THE neutral color: it does not distort color or effect contrast. Professional photographers use neutral density (grey) filters to reduce the amount of light entering the lens. Such a filter has no effect on color or contrast whatsoever.
Red (and all shades of it) does effect contrast; it enhances it. It also distorts other colors.
Brown and Green lenses enhance depth perception, reduce glare, and increase contrast and clarity.
Yellow and Orange lenses increase both contrast and depth perception.
The color of the chosen lens is something you need to consider very carefully before you buy. Don’t just try them on the pro shop. Take them out into the light, preferably sunlight. But don’t stop there, make a few trial putts. If you’re intending to spend a couple of hundred dollars on your glasses, you’d better make sure you FEEL comfortable in them.
Frames - Style:
There are several things to consider here – weight, durability and style. Yup, I put style last, but I know you won’t, and I certainly don’t either. But it really should be the minor consideration when buying a pair of sunglasses. You are going to be wearing them over a long period - a round of golf lasts at least four hours - so they should be light-weight. They should also be durable – nylon seems to be the most popular choice among the pros. It’s extremely durable and weighs very little.
Finally (well, maybe), how good do you look in them? Now, I gotta tell you. If they don’t look good, I’m not going to buy them. Nope, there’s no point in telling me I have to do what I preach, I’m not going to wear something that makes me look like a nerd.
Oh, and while we’re talking style, those neat-looking, wrap-around models do have practicalities above and beyond looking cool: they can eliminate glare creeping in around the lenses and, on a breezy day, will keep the dust out of your eyes.
A good pair of sunglasses will help your game in oh so many ways: you’ll see better, your eyes will feel more comfortable and last, but not least, you’ll cut the odds of your contracting cataracts or some other dread ailment of the eye. Take your time and choose wisely.
Management Mentoring and Leadership Development
At the management level of an organisation, it’s very easy to get sucked into a cycle and spend all your time fighting fires, just to maintain the status quo. This comes completely at the expense of business development, an essential top-down process that requires management to drive it. In order to break this cycle, you must focus on the core principles required to develop your leadership.
The most crucial aspect of leadership is to have the structure and discipline required to bring your team forward with you. This structured leadership is entirely top-down, and requires rigid and strong management topography to execute. The best current theories hold that the key principles behind this require focus on vision, involvement, measurement, and planning.
Acquiring a clear vision is crucial to good planning for the successful leader. A business mentor or management consultant can help you hone the skills needed to map strategies at multiple levels, identify and define problems, plan programmes, determine output and lead your team forward to achieve your goals.
Management consultants are there to guide managers into becoming effective leaders, not to railroad them into doing things a different way. This means that a mentor will work with the manager to ensure he or she remains in complete control of the team. Indeed, close involvement with the team rather than an approach of distant dictatorship (which causes nothing but misunderstandings and resentment), is essential to good management.
Managers should use a variety of approaches to draw out the best results from their teams. These can include mentoring, establishing clear behavioural boundaries, decision matrices and other solutions to keep the entire team informed and involved at all levels of decision making. Giving responsibility back to the team will ensure amicable solutions to problems and prevent management burn-out. A management consultancy will show how to develop appropriate strategies in these areas.
But all of these ideas are impossible to implement without measuring their success and building on what works best. Good leadership development will lead you to reflect on past decisions with techniques such as scorecards, binary problem definitions and statistical validation. These techniques help link managerial or financial decisions to the effects they have on team dynamics and ultimately the success of a company.
Mentoring from a management consultancy does not end there. Self-reflection should be an on-going process and managers should not demand this from their teams if they are not prepared to undergo regular, honest appraisal of their own performance. In this way managers will maintain contact with their teams in the most effective way possible. Choosing the right tools for this process is something with which a good consultancy will be able to help.
Ultimately any management development must be done with a careful view of the situation, which a strong consultancy will help you to develop. Always remember that change must be led from the top of a business, and you’ll stay on the road to success.
Selecting the Right Mattress Will Have You Dreaming of a Peaceful Night's Sleep
In recent years an amazing solution has appeared in the form of memory foam mattresses. The technology behind these was developed by NASA scientists when looking for ways to protect the astronauts from the powerful G forces at lift-off and re-entry. The visco-elastic construction moulds itself to the body like a dense, protective layer.
The visco-elastic overlay can be attached to a polyurethane foam base which allows air to circulate between the layers and provide extra resilience and comfort. This type of mattress is now widely used in hospitals and nursing homes as it prevents pressure sores, is lightweight and durable and does not require flipping, like standard mattresses. According to statistics, these mattresses reduce nightly tossing and turning by over 80%.
They have the additional benefit of helping those sensitive to dust mites and allergies. The foam responds to body heat and weight to mould itself to the natural contours of the body, which is why it is so comfortable. Because it restricts heat loss, it is also snug and warm in winter. However, the foam can become quite hot in summer and, if you need to move quickly or get out of bed, this can cause problems for some people.
Memory foam combi-mattresses are available in numerous sizes and depths to fit any standard bed frame, but this must be ventilated to allow the dispersal of moisture. Their combined depth can range from 15 cm to 31 cm, depending on the choice of base. They are also available in a wide range of sizes to fit any bed from single to extra king size.
Whilst memory foam mattresses seem to be taking the world by storm, some people still want the solidity of a tradition sprung mattress. This can be achieved by attaching a foam base which is channel cut for additional elasticity and airflow which gives greater depth resilience and feels more like a sprung mattress, or by combining the memory foam overlay with a traditional base.
When it comes to traditional mattresses, there are three main types available, with the best being pocket sprung. What this means is that individual springs are secured in fabric pockets which gives the mattress bounce, comfort and durability. The individual springs support the body well and these mattresses are still very popular. Open coil and continuous coil mattresses are less expensive and less comfortable alternatives, unless, of course, these are combined with a memory foam overlay.
Considering that we spend a third of lives in bed – not counting illnesses – we owe it to ourselves to choose our mattress with care to ensure quality rest and relaxation. If possible, we should ‘try before we buy’ but if not, we should think very carefully about what we really find comfortable in a mattress and be prepared to spend a little more to achieve that comfort. After all, you can’t put a price on a perfect night’s sleep.

The Evolution of Office Furniture
A good office chair must accommodate the size of each individual. Even adjustable chairs should be available in different sizes to begin with. The Aeron chair provides such an approach, with three sizes to choose from, adhering to all global standards and featuring adjustable armrests, lumbar support and tilt tension. Thus, small or large persons alike will be safely and comfortably seated, the chair adaptable according to their own proportion and preferences.
Functionally, the ideal ergonomic performance of a chair includes good support throughout the body no matter what position a person chooses to assume while seated in it. Of course, there are some tasks for which the individual must be upright, and others that allow for more relaxed seating. It is important that the office chair is capable of adjusting to these changing positions, as remaining in the same position too long can cause risk of repetitive stress injury. This is particularly true these days when office workers spent so much time at the computer. The chair should allow for posture change while still providing the body with full support. There should be no position in which the spine, neck or legs feel uncomfortable or pinched while seated.
The Herman Miller chair employs a suspension technology that assures proper weight distribution from seat to back as the chair is straightened or reclined. This eliminates problems with stressed pressure-points and impeded blood flow. The Aeron chair backrest and seat are made to conform to each person seated in it. Unique tilt technology ensures proper distribution from seat to backrest, while ankles, knees, and hips move naturally without disturbing the worker’s concentration. When a worker can move naturally throughout the day, they will be less likely to suffer injuries resulting from maintaining a static position throughout the day.
The Herman Miller Aeron chair makes use of a special permeable material that allows the seated individual to maintain a comfortable body temperature, allowing air flow to prevent moisture on the skin’s surface. Humidity and heat are kept away from the body, in contrast to the uncomfortable insulation of inferior office chairs.
Modern office furniture should also be sensitive to the environment. The Aeron chair is durable and utilizes approximately 94% recycled materials. The parts of the chair that will wear out more quickly are easily recyclable and replaced. Polymers and aluminum make up most of the recyclable material on each Herman Miller chair.
Aesthetically, the modern office requires a chair that is highly functional yet does not appear clunky or boxy and does not take up too much space. The Herman Miller Aeron chair will fit into any office environment large or small, while presenting a lithe, efficient aspect.
Good office furniture is a health essential in the worker’s life. Why not explore the benefits of environmentally sensitive, functional and comfortable office furniture today?

Foostools2u Website
We founded the business to provide custom-built foot and bench stools and storage cubes. Customers are given choices from which they can “build” their footstools from scratch. Our website design allows them to do this so that they can visualise their purchase before actually taking the decision to buy. Indeed allowing a customer to make decisions underpins the way the website is designed by providing “choices” at every stage of the process.
Our expertise lies in our many years’ experience of UK upholstery and our craftsmen built pieces have been designed with customer choice in mind. Every footstool is manufactured in our workshop as a bespoke piece of craftsmanship. An individual customer order is accessed via our web site and is assembled to the highest UK quality standards. Our craftsmen and women use only the best fabrics, leathers, wood and fillings. Each footstool is individually hand built, undergoing rigourous testing before we allow it to be sent out.
We are not a company that runs by the speed of its manufacturing line, putting together standard products, in uniform colours and designs to suit modern production methods. Our unique vision is to be different and to embrace the internet to offer as wider range of footstools and associated products as possible. This we can do by offering 24/7 accessibility through our website with a swift response to questions and queries. We do not sell our products in the shops and by visiting footstools-direct.com you are simply a click away from putting your feet up!
Bespoke Footstools
We know that it is not always easy to find just what you want. A furniture choice is always going to be a compromise over size, shade, design and comfort. Perhaps the question most often overlooked is “will it fit?” Well now you can make these assessments from the comfort of your own home by accessing your computer and logging onto www.footstools2u.co.uk. Our website allows you to build form scratch you own footstool, benchstool, ottoman or storage unit. We provide you with options of a series of sizes (length, depth and height), that you can fit into the largest or smallest spaces in your house.
Your choice of fabric or leather is also a matter of selection from the web site. Most customers want their new footstool to match existing furniture. Our shade range of over 100 fabrics and leathers allows you to make the choice that suits. Likewise your selection of legs and feet for your footstool should be made after considering the other furniture in the room and considering the shade of your carpet or wood floor.
When you have made these crucial choices our web site allows you to review your selections. Should you change your mind about a choice of fabric colour for instance it is an easy matter to change your selection by a simple click on your mouse. We at Foostools2u offer complete flexibility to customers by allowing them to size to their own dimensions if any of our standard sizes are not appropriate. Customers are also encouraged to supply their own fabrics particularly when they have a pre existing fabric that they wish to see made up as a footstool.
We at all times welcome the input from our customers and encourage them to make their own selections. We work from the premise of supplying not what we want but what our customers wish to buy!
Footstool legs
The primary decision to be made is to assess how the legs will match the rest of your furniture. If you have mahogany as the predominant wood in your sofas and tables then mahogany legs will be your appropriate choice. Should your wooden floors be pine or light oak then a lighter choice of wood for your legs should be considered.
The Foostools2u selection covers our complete range of footstools and we have left no stone unturned by giving our customers a variety of legs for all settings. For the modern look our contemporary legs are available in mahogany, natural, mid oak and pine shades. Our Turned Metal with Brushed Finish feet provide the contemporary look for footstools in modern apartments and studio flats. The Small Polished Metal Foot is designed specifically for Cubes and provides a winning combination whether you choose leather or a fabric option. Alternative and always popular contemporary legs include the Tall Polished Metal Leg, the Turned Cone Leg (available in mahogany, natural, mid oak and pine shades) and the Turned Bun Foot also available in these four shade options. If you require extra height then the Tall Contemporary Leg is what you are looking for.
For those customers looking for a classical, traditional footstool leg then they should consider the decorative offerings in both wood and metal (or a combination of both). For greater flexibility then a leg choice with castors adds to the traditional look. Our most popular leg in this category is the Turned leg with Brass Casters. This leg not only looks good but provides excellent manoeuvrability, particularly for customers with wooden floors. The leg is available in the four main wood shades combined with a brass wheel base. To complete the “classical appearance” the Turned Leg in Metallic Finish with Chrome Castors is an excellent choice for those customers who choose a footstool to match existing ornate classical furniture.
We at Foostools2u are confident you will find just the leg you are looking for to finalise your purchase of your Foostools2u footstool.
Dyed Fabric Available on Footstools
The three methods for producing dyed fabric for upholstery are fibre dyeing, yarn dyeing and piece dyeing. The fibre dyeing method involves colouring the substrate fibre during extrusion (if a man made fibre such as acrylic or polyester) or prior to spinning if a natural fibre for example cotton or linen. Yarn dyeing occurs when the fibre has been spun onto cones and colouration takes place within high pressure dye vessels. Piece dyeing is when the yarn has been spun and woven into cloth. The raw fabric can be dyed in vat, jig or jets (enclosed high pressure dyeing machines) which fix dye stuff through the woven structure of the fabric adding colour and texture. A final finishing process then softens the fabric rendering it suitable for upholstery applications.
The fabrics offered by Foostools2u are each dyed by one of the three dyeing processes. Ravello is fibre dyed at source prior to weaving and finishing. Wicker is woven and then jig dyed on 2000 metre jig dyeing machinery. Loomstate Sienna is placed in huge vat dyeing machines where it undergoes a 24 hour process whilst the dyestuffs are applied and fixed to the fabric to ensure fastness. Prairie Stripe yarns are individually yarn dyed prior to weaving. The weaver then arranges coloured beams and weaving can take place. The fabric is sent away for further processing where size and other impurities are washed out of the fabric and softening takes place. Faux Suede is piece dyed on jig machines and the Chamonix is jet dyed through an eight hour cycle of high pressure dyeing and finishing.
The application of colour gives us the textures and exciting shades that help us to create our footstool range. The processes are controlled to ensure that the dyed fabric maintains its colour throughout the normal life span of a footstool or associated piece of furniture and that our customers will be happy with the long term performance of their dyed fabric.
Footstools Buying Guide
As part of our unique service you can have a specific fabric on any footstool model. All our footstools are custom built using available products from our range of fabric or leather upholstery. We use a variety of seat and frame fillings, chosen to offer maximum comfort and rigidity. A mixture of fibre, foam or core foam and fibre wrap is used. Frames are made from rigid foam core or birch (hardwood) and pine (softwood). The birch is used on the weight bearing areas whilst the pine is used for shaping. Plywood is used for load bearing areas where strength is a prerequisite. Your footstool is assembled and packed into an appropriate sized box.

Care for Your Footstool
Try not to let your little ones (and not so little ones!) stand on your footstool. Whilst we build each footstool to the most exacting specification excessive weight and strain can do long term damage to the frame. We also use high-density rigid foam that may become flattened when exposed to such conditions.
Please don’t expose your footstool to excessive heat or sunlight. Over time it can distort the frame as well as fade the fabric. We recommend you change the position of your footstool on a regular basis in order allow to for regular “all over wear”.
Watch out for greasy hair products as they can leave unsightly marks. Please don’t ever use creams, polish, detergents, or solvent stain removers as the use of these can distort the fabric. Please take care where you position your footstool and for obvious reasons do not place it too close to the fire.
Ensure that you do not “over strain” the hinge brackets of your storage footstool when opening the lid. Do not overfill your storage footstool as this can over burden the base and distort the shape. Our recommendation is that if you cannot easily carry a small or medium size storage unit then it is too full. Two adults should be able to carry a large storage unit with relative ease.
At Foostools2u we want all our customers to experience many years use and enjoyment their footstools, benchstools and storage cubes. The best way for this to happen is for customers to follow these simple instructions thus ensuring a long life with their products.

Our in house design team glean the latest trends from exhibitions and trade magazines and present us with new collections at the start of each new year. We will then test these new products before unveiling them to our excited customers a short time later. We’re sure you’ll find that it’s not only you who’ll benefit from our range of footstools; it’ll also enhance the appearance of your other furniture too!
Uses for Footstools
The very earliest examples of footstools in history were used to allow Egyptian nobles to ascend their thrones. Traditional Egyptian chairs were built large and tall to convey feelings of authority and power over all in attendance. Small wooden footstools were the vehicles whereby even the smallest Egyptian could look down upon the masses. Moving on from the Egyptians when the early tradesmen had to cross vast distances of desert they were required to carry not only their wares but also their homes. Consequently flexible, portable storage was an important consideration. After the heat of the day the evenings for these traders were for a time of relation and sustenance. This was when the lightweight storage boxes and ottomans were unpacked. Some were used to store expensive silks; others contained spices and figs. They now also had the use of a ready made footstool ottoman, many of which were decorated in intensely coloured fabric piled with cushions.
The simple idea of a footstool / ottoman as a storage device became popular with the Victorians who used such items for storing laundry and bed linens. Many families saw the value of the ottoman as a storage tool and many thousands were sold between the wars. After the Second World War storage footstools became “utility furniture” pieces and were assembled inexpensively and at a high speed.
Footstools have recently been adapted in their use as bench stools, table stools and seating cubes as discerning customers demand greater
Fabric Footstools

The Ravello range of 10 shades is one of our most popular fabric choices as the shades lend themselves to contemporary living spaces. Leather Cubes
Leather manufacture is a centuries old craft that can be traced back to pre historic times. Stone Age Man and latterly the Egyptians refined the art of tanning leather that has consistently been improved to the present day. According to the Bible Simon the Tanner was plying his trade in the first century AD.
Through a combination of the latest scientific techniques and rigorous quality control mechanisms each hide is individually selected prior to tanning. The thing to remember is that leather is a by-product of the meat industry. Without meat there would be no skins and therefore no trade in leather.
The skin is removed from the animal at the abattoir and generally left on a marble floor to cool. This procedure is vitally important as the rapid cooling of marble reduces the threat of bacterial attack. The hides are then salted to preserve them prior to shipping to a tannery where further processing takes place. Any blemishes are removed from the hide at this stage. The skins are re inspected after tanning to ensure only the best hides are used for the manufacture of our cubes and footstools. A protective coating is applied to the leather after colouration to protect it from wear and tear and ensure a long life span. Finally the leather is softened and ironed to remove any creases prior to shipment. At this point the finished leather is ready for our upholsterers at Foostools2u.
This is the point when you choose the leather quality and shade for your cube. We offer three ranges, Mustang in claret, dark brown, black, ash and rust. Mustang is our finest quality fashioned from full aniline hand finished Italian leather. Capri, in poppy red, chocolate oak and cream is the second leather quality we offer. Capri is a fine product made from a luxurious hide with a beautiful soft touch. The sumptuous look is enhanced by a subtle shaded effect. Our third leather is Style made from soft yet very durable Italian leather. We offer the Style range in nut brown, ivory, poppy red and black shades and it remains consistently popular leather with our customers. When purchasing a leather cube the discerning customer really has made an excellent choice!
Cubes
The cube’s flexibility is one of its greatest assets. As a piece of furniture for seating, Foostools2u cubes have many applications. Whether required to seat a vast congregation or a few family members the cube is an inexpensive solution. They are manoeuvrable and can be set out in any order. Once finished they can be stored together well without taking up vast swathes of space. Alternatively they can be placed in any room environment to enhance the décor. Many people use them as small table pieces placed by the side of an armchair. Others use them as occasional seats for small children or pets. Perhaps their most appropriate application is as footstools.
Cubes are designed to be tightly upholstered in fabric or leather. Faux suede fabric is particularly appropriate for the range of fabric cubes offered by Foostools2u as it has high abrasion resistance and arrives in a range of twelve contemporary colours. Leather cubes are offered in the three choices of superb Italian leather, Mustang, Capri and Style. Leather cubes are hard wearing and will maintain their shape over time. As a practical and flexible solution look no further than the Footstools2u.co.uk range of cubes
Ottomans
When early nomadic tradesmen formed their caravans to cross vast swathes of desert they had to account for every single item. As their camels were required to carry not only their wares but also their homes, portability and storage were important features to consider. After long hot days under the desert sun the evenings for these traders were for a time of relation and sustenance. This was when the ottomans were unpacked – some had been used to store silks, cloths and linens for bedding, some others contained spices, dates and figs. They now had use as a leisure item and were decorated in bright intense coloured fabric piled with cushions. The simple decoration of the nomads tents were enhanced by some home” decor” and the ottomans performed great purpose by being bright, covered as they were in colourful textiles and acting as useful storage vessels.
Firstly it was the nomadic traders and latterly the Ottomans who more than anyone needed a lightweight device that was portable enough to carry from place to place. As the Ottoman Empire stretched across most of Central Asia and Persia and over the deserts of North Africa they popularised the Ottoman, and what we would today understand as a footstool. The design, developed over time was a deeply upholstered seat of any shape, with or without a back, where,, it was to become the central piece of domestic seating. An early version was designed to go entirely around three walls of a room, and from this evolved a smaller version, designed to fit into corners. The first of these “ottomans” was introduced into Europe in the late 18th century from Turkey and soon became a popular adornment to grand Georgian and latterly Victorian homes. As incomes grew throughout the Twentieth Century, Ottomans became an essential fashion statement in UK households. By the Millennium over 90% of all British homes owned an Ottoman or similar storage device.
Faux-suede Footstools
Created by Japanese textile technologists in the 1980s, faux suede was developed as a micro fibre to readily accept colouration and have applications both in clothing and soft furnishings. The base of faux suede is polyester, a man made fibre extracted as a derivative from petroleum. Polyester can be blended with any other textile fibre however to maintain performance and satisfactory texture a faux suede fabric should ideally be woven from 100% core polyester. We at Foostools2u do not blend our faux suede fabrics and we would urge potential customers to resist cheaper alternatives particularly as footstool abrasion requirements are necessarily onerous and we want our footstools to last for many years to come.
As a fabric for footstools faux suede has no equal. With a brushed “napp” faux suedes exhibit a velvet appearance similar to the effect found on snooker or pool tables. The lustrous feel reflects light in the direction of the false pile, created during the fabric’s finishing process. The wide colouration of faux suedes is made easier by the receptive nature of the fabric to complex dyestuffs. Polyester is most receptive to deep and rich colouration allowing the dyer to employ deep reds, bright pinks, oranges and various pastel shades that are more problematic to natural fibres.
Contemporary shades for faux suedes tend to be centred around “earth tone” pallets whereby natural colours predominate. Foostools2u are well represented within these tonal areas having twelve colours to offer on their footstools range. The most popular shades include, coffee, ivory, chocolate, black and hazelnut. Among several new shades offered for the first time are red, muscat and white with another set of favourites from which stone, natural camel and beige are prominent.
History of Footstools
There have been discoveries at Greek and Roman archaeological sites of small pieces that we would today describe as footstools. Yet it was the Moors and latterly the Ottomans who more than anyone needed a lightweight device that was portable enough to carry from place to place. They popularised what we would today understand as a footstool. Their design, developed over the centuries was a deeply upholstered seat of any shape, with or without a back, where, piled with cushions, it was the central piece of domestic seating. One of the early versions was designed as a piece of fitted furniture to go entirely around three walls of a room, and from this evolved a smaller version, designed to fit into corners. The first of these “ottomans” was introduced into Europe in the late 18th century from Turkey and soon became a popular adornment to grand Georgian and latterly Victorian homes. As living conditions improved throughout the Twentieth Century, Ottomans and the recently developed Pouffee from France became an essential fashion statement in British households. By the Millennium over 90% of all homes in the UK owned a footstool or similar storage device.
Today, modern upholstery manufacturers offer a great variety of footstools in all shapes and sizes. Most offer footstools as part of a set of furniture options whereas a company such as Foostools2u only manufacture footstools and are proud to specialise in a craft that dates back to the time of the Pharaohs.
Uses for Footstools
The very earliest examples of footstools in history were used to allow Egyptian nobles to ascend their thrones. Footstools have recently been adapted in their use as bench stools, table stools and seating cubes as discerning customers demand greater adaptability from their furniture. One bed room studio apartments do not contain the space of larger houses. Through necessity individuals have to be more inventive with their uses of space. A well designed storage unit from Foostools2u allows for the space saving features so important in 21st Century living.
Leather Footstools
We pride ourselves by the quality of leather we use on all our footstools and these can be classified into three types: -
Mustang Leather footstools are made using the finest full aniline Italian leather. This is where the leather hides are collected from the youngest creatures where the leather is free from blemishes and is soft to the touch yet extremely herd wearing. Mustang leather is offered in five shades, the most popular being dark brown. The other colours are rust, claret, black and Ash.
Capri Leather footstools are made using top quality semi aniline Italian leather. Here the leather arrives from older animals yet is still soft and very hard wearing. Capri is offered in four shades, oak, poppy red, ream and chocolate. Style Leather footstools are made using soft but very durable Italian leather. This hardwearing and always popular alternative is presented in four colours, nut brown, ivory, poppy red and black.
When you choose the type of leather you would like upholstered to your footstool our skilled craftsmen then turn your dream into reality. There really is nothing like a hand crafted leather footstool! Instinctively a customer knows he or she has made a quality purchase when a brand new leather footstool emerges glistening from its packing box!. The smell that greets them oozes quality and the finished leather shines magnificently in the light. . No matter what style or size you choose you can rest assured you have selected a piece of furniture that will give you great pleasure for many more years to come!
Storage Footstools
The idea of footstools as storage units has been developed over the years so that we now have many ingenious devices to offer. Bedding can be folded and tidied away in one of our large storage ottomans. Placed at the foot of bed a large storage ottoman is a stand out piece of furniture in its own right. Upholstered in one of our many splendid leather or fabric options it will enhance its surroundings whilst at the same time providing a practical storage solution for many years to come.
Our medium storage ottomans are perfect for placing dirty laundry and these can be stored appropriately in bathrooms or laundry rooms. Their capacity is a matter of choice and the functionality of a medium storage footstool is beyond doubt. The Foostools2u range of small storage footstools is well suited to almost any space within any room in the house. Magazines and books can be stored within a small storage footstool enabling the householder an economical use of space whilst at the same time keeping things tidy. They are entirely in keeping within bedrooms where any corner can be transformed into an area for storing socks, tights, ties or belts. Many people store their CD’s or videos in their small storage footstools. They are indeed the perfect solution where space is at a premium!
Bench footstool
Foostools2u offer contemporary fabrics and sumptuous leathers on all their bench footstools. The most popular choice among customers is the Ravello fabric range whereby ten modern shades enhance a lustrous chenille fabric that sits perfectly on your bench stool. As a practical 100% cotton alternative the Sienna fabric is also presented in ten exciting fabric colours that will enhance any room. The three leather options, Mustang, Capri and Style are presented in a contemporary palette designed to perfectly coordinate with living room colour schemes. All three leathers combine the practicality of hardwearing yet easy to clean leather with the superb quality of hand crafted Italian hides that sit flawlessly on our range of bench footstools.
The manufacture of bench stools is completed by an appropriate choice of feet. Among recommended selections is our contemporary legs range available in mahogany, pine, mid oak and natural shades. If you are contemplating the finalisation of a bench stool in classic surroundings why not consider a turned mahogany leg with brass casters? (most appropriate in a room with wooden flooring) Finally for that “Art Deco Look” your bench stool will look simply exquisite by being finished off using turned legs in metallic finish with chrome castors.
Large footstools
What enhances the large footstool is the choice of feet and legs. The primary selection is between metal or wooden legs however within these options lay further choices. When choosing wood the discerning customer can ask for “turned” or “contemporary” legs. To enhance the choice metal or brass castors may be selected. Alternatively a fully “metallic” leg may be selected. This can include a “turned leg in metallic finish with chrome castors” or the sumptuous “tall polished metal leg”
Height is an important facet of the large footstool and the choice of a tall contemporary leg can give your footstool the presence it deserves. Whatever room you decide to place your large footstool in it deserves to be shown at its best and in the most palatial of surroundings!
Footstools
With a choice so wide there is no better place to search for your new footstool than to visit www.Footstools2u.co.uk. Their range is large enough to satisfy any discerning furniture shopper and their choice of fabrics and leathers is unsurpassed. The footstool can be ordered in various sizes. Its shape can be organised to fit into the smallest or largest of spaces and the height of the footstool can be varied by an excellent choice of appropriate legs and feet. No suite of sofas and chairs should ever be without a footstool. The footstool is the central point of relaxation, becoming an oasis of calm after yet another weary day at work. Even if you can only grab yourself a few minutes of “quality time” ensure that you gather up your footstool and take the weight off your feet just for a few moments.
Style is also an important part of choosing a footstool, since you will want the piece to compliment the rest of your decor. Will a boxy footstool that is flush with the ground co-ordinate better with the clean lines of your existing furniture, or is your style more traditional, making a footstool with carved legs a better choice? When selecting a footstool it is a good idea to apply pressure to it or to sit down on it to make sure it is sturdy. Don't forget to measure the width of the footstool to make sure it won't be too large and feel awkward in your space. Measure the height as well to ensure that your feet will rest comfortably when sitting on your chair or sofa. Price is a consideration and foostools2u.co.uk may well have the perfect footstool custom designed to your taste, specifications, and your budget. No matter where you decide to purchase your footstool, or even if you decide to build one yourself, function, style, and value are the most important elements.

Great Directory
http://www.business-directory-uk.co.uk/home-garden.htm
Have a look and tell me what you think.
How England Fare in the 2010 World Cup
England have been given a favourable draw: - no English player should be fearful of Rene Krhin (Slovenia), the "never say die attitude" of Rafik Djebbour (Algeria) or the silky skills of Carlos Bocanegra (USA).
England end up as group winners where they face a last sixteen encounter with (on no) GERMANY! And this is where their campaign ignites. Germany have one of the best records of all the recognised footballing nations in the World Cup and England have one of the worst! But this is not a vintage German side and they lost their talisman, Michael Ballack, in one of the earlier warm up fixtures. The Germans still possess talent (you never write off the Germans!) and their team contains several world class performers with the likes of Bastien Schweinsteiger, Phillip Lahm and Miroslav Klose on show. But from the comfort of my sofa, with feet outstretched on my footstool and with beer in hand the Germans are mastered and England beat them:- in a penalty shootout!
So who do England face in the quarter final? It turns out to be the pesky Uruguayans and their prolific goal machine (and Manchester United flop), Diego Forlan. But Uruguay can not rely on just one man and they do not have the strength in depth that the top teams need to compete at this level. Diego may be one of the finest goal poachers for Athletico Madrid in La Liga but in the World Cup Quarter Final against England, Ledley King "has him in his pocket" and the striker proves completely ineffectual. The Three Lions win the game when Emile Heskey scores his eighth ever England goal in a tight and nervous encounter.
The World Cup Semi Final sees the stylish Dutch take on the ever improving English in what turns out to be a classic World Cup fixture. Van bommel scores early for Holland whilst England reply when Joe Cole conjurers up a bit of magic and lobs Van der Saar from outside the box. Then England take the lead when Crouch heads in from close range only for the outstanding Wesley Sneijder to equalise just before half time. The second half remains goalless and extra time is looming when Gareth Barry scores his second ever England goal to take his team towards the final. With seconds to go and every Englishmen down to his last millimetre of bite able fingernail, Robin van Persie is tripped in the penalty area by the hapless John Terry...PENALTY!!! Van Persie himself steps up to take the spot kick and instead of placing his shot, he blasts the ball inches wide of Joe Hart's left hand post! The referee looks at his watch, blows and England are in their first World Cup Final since 1966! Utter pandemonium as the nation celebrates in joyous unison (and all thoughts of the recent Tory / Lib Dem budget massacre are banished until another day!)
England play Spain in the final and are beaten by four goals to nil.

Is well known that of all the oaks in the world, American white oak is the most highly priced, thanks to its delicate grain patterns. The combination of this elegance with immense strength has proved magnetic for kitchen designers and cabinet makers for centuries. One of the best uses for oak is as a kitchen worktop, which is always the hardest working element of any kitchen. An Oak worktop gives immediate style and beauty to kitchen which is hard to avoid.
Unlike manmade materials, oak worktops develop patina which enhances their beauty from year to year. It gets better however; if there is a disaster in the kitchen, or perhaps things just need a freshen up, one of the great joys of a solid oak worktop is simply that it can be sanded back and made to look like new. This makes oak a highly practical choice for a kitchen worktop where the life expectancy of the kitchen is high. Just as in all walks of life though, of course you get what you pay for.
